This beach lies 40 km north west of Chios Town and at an 8 kilometre distance from the capital village of Northwest Chios, Volissos. It is a long sandy and pebbled beach extending in front of the Monastery of Saint Markella, the patron saint of the island. The waters are very clean, deep and very cold. A path at the end of the coast leads to the place where Markella died as a martyr, where a spring of warm water is found in the sea.
